Abstract

Mannich bases, a structurally heterogeneous aminomethyl functionality, found numerous applications
in medicinal chemistry field. Fluoroquinolones-Mannich bases here is discussed, with prominence on
the correlation between structure and biological activity as it could be responsible for enhancing
physicochemical properties of fluoroquinolones. The review covers broadly the literature works that
correlated fluoroquinolones-Mannich bases cytotoxicity activity as anticancer agents rather than their
antibacterial activity. The most applicable studies on the activity of fluoroquinolones-Mannich bases
as potential antimycobacterial candidates and antiviral agents have been included as well. This
contemporary review considers a first kernel for upcoming exertions in designing and synthesis of
more Fluoroquinolone -Mannich bases.
