Abstract

Background: Levosimendan is an inodilator medication that, given its distinctive pharmacological actions and safety profile, represents an appropriate treatment in cases with heart failure with a decreased ejection fraction in the advanced stage of the illness.

Objectives: assessment of levosimendan effect on haemodynamics in the mechanically ventilated patients.

Study design: A prospective observational Randomised single blind placebo study

Method: This study involved 46 mechanically ventillated patients, the patients were allocated into 2 groups. Group1 levosimendan: 23 patients recived levosimendan ,loading dose and maintance infusion for six hours . Group 2 placebo group :23 patients recived placebo preparation infusion ,hamodynamics were recorded for the six hours of infusion, and comparison was made between 2 groups and within the group to assessment the effect of levosimendan on those patients .

Results: no significnt changes occured in haemodynamics in patients recived levosimendan compared to placebo group .

Conclusion: levosimendan has no significant effect on haemodynamics of mechnically ventillated patient.
