Abstract

Abstract :

MS is a long-term inflammatory demyelinating disease . It affects the central nervous system ( CNS ). In young adults , it is among the most frequent causes of disability . 1

Objectives : to assess some clinical and radiological features that lead to disability in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis ( RRMS ) patients .

Methods: a cross-sectional hospital-based study in Minia University Hospital over a period of one-year duration on definite RRMS patients.

Results : 180 patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria over the period of the study . The EDSS score was positively correlated with the patient's age , the duration of disease , and T1 black hole lesions in brain MRI of RRMS patients .

Conclusion : The patient's age , duration of the disease , and T1 lesions in brain MRI could be considered as factors that are in positive correlation with disability in RRMS .
